A method for the surgical access to the vertebral arteries at the level of C-Cprovides for cutting the skin at the edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, cutting the subcutaneous fat, platysma, the superficial layer of the proper fascia of the neck, cutting the clavicular head of the omohyoid muscle and the deep fascia of the neck, opening the prevertebral fascia, and separating the vertebral artery. The access is performed behind the sternocleidomastoid muscle. The posterior edge of the muscle is mobilized, the branches of the nerves of the brachial plexus and the anterior scalenus muscle, the internal jugular vein are moved medially; the vertebral artery is separated proximally. |
