engineering. SUBSTANCE: end seal may be used in sealing devices of machine shafts. System of cavities in end seal is formed by through axial arbitrary-shape channels in circular insert. Insert is mounted for axial displacement in dead-end circular groove made on adjacent end of one of rings. In this case, insert is spring-loaded relative to groove bottom by means of flexible member, for example, by one or several compression springs. The invention makes it possible to enhance reliability and durability of seal by elimination of dependence of effect of friction surface hydrodynamic lubrication from surface wear in process of operation.
