PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance mechanism which eliminates a need for replacing an ink absorption member while keeping a cleaning function for a cleaner of a recording head and inhibits enlargement of the ink absorption member.SOLUTION: A maintenance mechanism has: a movable wiper member which wipes a nozzle surface of a recording head; an absorber attached to a plane that is the same as the nozzle surface of the recording head, the absorber configured to slidably contact with the wiper member and clean the wiper member; a pressing member for compressing the absorber; and suction means for suctioning and removing an ink from the absorber. The absorber is suctioned by the suction means while being compressed by the pressing member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
