PURPOSE:To prepare a composition for oral cavity, having high aseptic activity and excellent storage stability, by adding a surface active agent to a base containing a water-soluble calcium salt. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble calcium salt having a solubility of >=0.3wt%, especially >=1wt% in distilled water at 25 deg.C (preferably calcium lactate or calcium gluconate) is dissolved or dispersed in water or a water-containing liquid, and the solution or dispersion is mixed with other ingredients to obtain a base of the composition for oral cavity. The obtained base is incorporated with a surface active agent, preferably an anionic surface active agent (especially alkyl sulfuric acid ester metal salt) or a nonionic surface active agent (especially sucrose fatty acid ester). The preferable amounts of the calcium salt and the surface active agent are 0.5-5wt% and 0.1-5wt%, respectively, based on the whole composition. Addition of 0.01-1wt% of p-hydroxybenzoic acid alkyl ester (especially methyl ester) improves the aseptic activity without deteriorating the taste, etc. of the product. |
