The invention relates to a connecting cable for electrical appliances, especially telecommunications appliances. The connecting cable configured according to the invention is designed such that a locking device, which is fitted in the coupling piece, can be released only with the aid of the plug on the mains side, which can be used as a special tool, for which purpose the plug must necessarily be separated in advance from the mains connection (plug socket). Various embodiments are possible, of which two examples are specified which in each case result in any risk of touching live parts during replacement of a connecting cable being prevented. Such a connecting cable can accordingly be replaced by non-specialists, without any risk.
