PURPOSE:To eliminate maloperation of a vehicular body detector by a method in which it is judged whether the returning time of reflected wave of ultrasonic wave outgoing signal from a speaker corresponds to any of distance bands set, and only when the judged results conincide with the set distance band a given time within a given time, the results are sent out. CONSTITUTION:When a washer body 1 is moved and a detector 3 is positioned on a vehicular body 2, ultrasonic wave sent out of the speaker of the detector 3 is reflected on the vehicular body 2 and received by the speaker. The time from outgoing to receiving by the speaker corresponds to the distance between the vehicular body 2 and the speaker. In the case of large-size vehicular body 2, the time of the reflected wave is set up in T1 and also in T2 in the case of small-size vehicular body 2 and stored in a controller 4. Whether the time (t) of reflected wave of a vehicle to be washed is in T1<t<=T2 or t<=T1 is judged by the controller 4. The judgement is repeated for every one cycle of outgoing and receiving by the speaker, and only when same judgement results are obtained given times within a given time, the results are sent out to judge the size of the vehicular body. |
