PURPOSE:To provide early deceleration control by furnishing a calculation processing means for giving a speed control command so as to retain the car- to-car distance, and prohibiting operation of the calculation processing means when the distance varies time to time. CONSTITUTION:Signals from a lader 3, car speed sensor 11 and an intrusion judgement device 13 are entered into a signal processing device 1. When the difference between the current car-to-car distance obtained by signals from said car speed sensor 11 and lader 3 and the car-to-car distance a certain while before exceeds a specific value, it is judged that the distance is varying from time to time. Now the intrusion judgement device 13 judges that any object has intruded into the sensing area of the lader 3, to release operation of the above-mentioned signal processing device 1. This enables the operator to perform early deceleration control without relying upon auto-cruising system solely even in case any object has intruded into the space between the car and the one ahead, which should suppress delay of deceleration control.
