PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of the entire part of an optical scanner by devising the arrangement of an optical system in a reader. SOLUTION: This optical scanner has a single light source, a splitting means for bisecting the rays emitted from the light source and a single rotary scanning means and is so constituted that at least either of the respective rays split by the splitting means and made incident on the rotary scanning means passes the revolving shaft of the rotary scanning means. The routes through which the respective two rays split by the splitting means arrive at the rotary scanning means are both arranged on the plane passing the revolving shaft of the rotary scanning means. |
