PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for positive electrode of lithium secondary batteries of improved cycle properties at high temperatures and of large capacity, by making the spinel-type lithium manganese oxide to, function as positive electrode active substance, with a stability. SOLUTION: This material for a positive electrode contains spinel-type lithium manganese oxide, a compound (A), and a compound (B) as active substances. In a lithium secondary battery having its positive electrode comprised of the positive electrode material, the compound (A) emits lithium ions during the primary stage of charging to the upper limit of potential for the antipole lithium reference, corresponding to the maximum voltage range of the battery, substantially not occluding lithium ions during the primary stage of discharging, and the compound (B) has a larger charge and discharge capacity per unit weight than the spinel-type lithium manganese oxide of the working voltage range of positive electrode, corresponding to the maximum voltage range of charge and discharge of the battery. |
