摘要 PURPOSE: To suppress temperature gradient in a laser medium and to suppress distortions in a coherent electromagnetic wave beam that passes the laser medium by using an end face, that is integral with the laser medium and an incidence/emission surface that is integral with the end face. CONSTITUTION: The atoms of a laser medium 100 is excited into quasi-stable state by operating a pumping means and coherent electromagnetic wave beams 114 are introduced, via an incidence surface 112 of an incidence port 108. The beams 114 hit against a surface 112 at an angleϕ, that is essentially equal for planes N1, N2, and N3 where rays x, y, and z cross the surface 112. The beams follow a spiral path by receiving internal total reflections due to outer surfaces 104a-f of the medium 100. An emission port 116 of the beams 114 includes an end face 118, that is integral with the medium 100, includes an emission surface 120 that is integral with the end face 118, so that it is essentially the same as the incidence port 108. Therefore, all beams that exist in a single plane in the thickness direction of the beams 114 pass through an essentially equal optical path length in the medium 100, thus reducing the distortion in beam wave front.
