PURPOSE:To obtain an oral composition for hair tonic and hair growth capable of orally ingesting the composition as a medicine and a functional food, preventing and treating alopecia and simultaneously promoting hair production. CONSTITUTION:An oral composition for hair tonic and hair growth containing scymnol sulfate expressed by the formula [M is H or cation (preferably Na, K, Ca, NH4 or organic amine)] which is one ingredient of bile in deep-sea sharks as an active ingredient. The aforementioned composition is useful as a medicine or a functional food having effects excellent in hair tonic and hair growth. The dose of the above-mentioned composition is 0.01-100 mg/day, preferably 0.1-50 mg/d expressed in terms of the aforementioned active ingredient in the case of oral administration and it is practically convenient to contain i0.5 mg above-mentioned active ingredient in the administration form at a time for sufficiently exhibiting hair tonic and hair growth effects. |
