PURPOSE:To obtain a human-body detecting apparatus which can detect the advancing direction of a person automatically and can control electric lamps in a energy saving way. CONSTITUTION:When a person comes in between light emitting means 4a and 4b and light receiving means 5a and 5b, the light signals from the light emitting means 4a and 4b to the light receiving means 5a and 5b are cut off. The entrance and exit of the person are judged by a human-body judging means 6 based on the signals from the light receiving means 5a and 5b. Namely, the entrance and the exit of the person can be detected by detecting whether the person is present or not. An electric lamp 11 and the like for lighting a room are automatically controlled efficiently.
