PURPOSE:To prevent a reference image from being transferred onto a transfer material carrying means, to prevent soiling of the transfer material, and to shorten the course of copying time. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning blade 19 which can be brought into contact or separated is placed in a traveling path where the reference image 20 of the standard density in a state of a patch formed on a photosensitive drum 4K is moved to a transfer range, an electrostatic latent image of a specified patched state is formed on the photosensitive drum 4K, and the cleaning blade 19 is moved to be abutted to the photosensitive drum 4K from a standby position separated from the photosensitive drum 4K, and the oncoming reference image 20 is cleaned when the reference image 20 of the standard density is formed by developing the electrostatic latent image mentioned before by a developing device 9K. |
