PURPOSE:To enable displaying the intermediate contrast of an image without degrading the max. brightness by varying the period length of respective sub- fields according to the long or short image display time within the sub-fields. CONSTITUTION:The time necessary for displaying the entire row of each of the respective sub-fields is 1, 1/2, 1/4 to 1/2<n-1> ratios from the 1st sub-field up to the n-th sub-field in the case of a refresh driving system. Since the period lengths of the respective sub-fields are also set at the same ratios, the display of the next field can be started simultaneously on ending of the display in one sub-field, i.e., without generating the pause period of the display. Then, the duty ratio is improved by as much as the pause period of the display is eliminated and the degradation in the brightness over the entire part is suppressed. |
