PURPOSE:To assure the output and S/N suitable for high-density recording by treating hexagonal ferrite powder with at least surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The hexagonal ferrite powder treated with at least one kind of the Ti, Si or Al based coupling agents and the nonionic anion surfactant is used for the magnetic recording medium for which the hexagonal ferrite powder is used. The surface reforming of the magnetic powder is executed by the Ti, Si and Al based coupling agents if the magnetic recording medium is constituted in such a manner. Further, the reaction of the metal ions eluting from the magnetic powder and a hardener is suppressed by the nononic anion surfactant. The stable three-dimensional coupling of the hardener and the binder resin is thus possible. The Ti, Si and Al based coupling agents are preferably added at 0.4 to 2.0 pts.wt. to 100 pts. magnetic power as the amt. to be added of the coupling agents. |
