In a process for welding together parts of an interlocking profile during connection of plates, especially plastic plates for landfill site sealing walls, the two profile parts (2,3), which are connected to the plates by flanges (4,5), have complementary sealing surfaces (13,14) which are connected together to form a hollow chamber between them and then welded using one or more electrical heating wires (11,12) located at the sealing surfaces (13,14). A tool for the welding process includes a former which is inserted into the hollow chamber and forms a positive lock with it. The former has a guiding part and a clamping head which are pressed together by an adjuster and a cut-out on the periphery of the former holds the heating wire (11,12). An alternative tool for welding comprises former which is elastically expanded to form a positive lock with the hollow chamber near to the welding seam. The interlocking profile (1) is also claimed. |
