The arrangement has transmission coils (Tx1,..), associated receiver coils (Rx1,..), transponders which can generate an identifiable characteristic and processing circuits which can detect a weapon passing between the transmission and receiver coils. The transmission coils can generate frequencies for stimulation and detection of weapons and different frequencies for activating the transponder, which derives power for its internal circuits from the stimulation frequency signal. The signals for detecting the transponder are taken from the output of the receiver coil which is used to detect weapons.
