PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of reliability due to high-temperature conservation, and to inhibit a phenomenon (self-erase), in which a part of a recording mark is erased by heat diffused in the in-plane direction of a recording layer at the time of the irradiation of laser beams for recording, in a phase change type optical recording medium. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium applied to a driving device conducting overwrite at linear velocity V0 , the optical recording medium is designed so that 0.6<=V2nd /V0 <1.25 (where V2nd represents overwrite linear velocity, where a frequency component is minimized when a recording mark formed by overwrite is reproduced and the above-mentioned frequency component corresponding to the secondary higher harmonic of the frequency of a recording signal used for forming the above-mentioned recording mark is measured) holds. In the optical recording medium applied to the driving device conducting overwrite at linear velocity V0 , the jitter of the rear edge of the recording mark is made smaller than that of a front edge when overwrite is performed at linear velocity V0 . |
