A communication device capable of performing data communication between a plurality of data communication device using a discrete multi-tone modulation/demodulation method and having a communication function using a half-duplex method by time sharing with a ratio between a data transmission period which is suitable for data transmission of within one period and a quasi data transmission period other than the above data transmission period dynamically changed, wherein data are transmitted with bits allocated so as to permit data of one period to be transmitted during the above data transmission period of one period and dummy data bits allocated to the portions of the above data transmission period to which transmitting data are not assigned.
