PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the selecting operability when an optional commodity is selected based on its number among plural commodities. SOLUTION: When a commodity number is inputted via a ten-key 4, the numeric characters inputted to a display 5 are shifted to the left in every digit up to the largest number of display digits and displayed. When the number of a desired commodity is inputted and a decision key 6 is pushed, the sale of the commodity is started. If a wrong commodity number is inputted, the key 6 is not pushed and a correct number is inputted with the wrong number displayed as it is. Thus, the input numeric characters are successively shifted in every digit and the key 6 is pushed when the correct commodity number is displayed after the wrong number is corrected. Then the desired commodity is sold. As a result, the wrong input number can be easily corrected with no operation of a correction key and the selecting operability of commodities is improved.
