PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple photon exciting laser microscope whose SN ratio of an obtained image is improved. SOLUTION: For this microscope, fluorescent light is condensed from the upper and the lower parts of a stage on which a sample is placed, converted into an electric signal by two optical sensors (photomultiplier, etc.), 120 and 170 provided above and below, and the electric signals from the two above and below optical sensors are added by a device 180 for laser scanning control and image processing. With this constitution, light condensing ratio of the multiple photon exciting laser microscope which condenses light only from a surface irradiated with a laser beam is normally 20-30%, whereas, the maximum light condensing ratio of 44% or higher can be obtained with this microscope. Thus, the background noise of a fluorescent image is reduced, and a clear image can be obtained.
