PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the positional deviation of plural images, with simple and inexpensive constitution, when compositing and outputting plural images as a single image. SOLUTION: A main scanning position detection sensor 64 (64K, 64Y, 64M and 64C) for detecting a laser beam position in a main scanning direction and a subscanning position detection sensor 66 (66K, 66Y, 66M and 66C) for detecting the laser beam position in a subscanning direction are respectively provided for every color (K, Y, M and C). Modulation start timing in the main scanning direction is controlled, based on a signal from the sensor 64K, and the fluctuation of the mutual positional relation of respective beams in the main scanning direction is detected by the sensors 64 for respective colors, and the fluctuation of the mutual positional relation of the respective beams in the subscanning direction is detected by the sensors 66 for the respective colors.
