PURPOSE: An alarm display apparatus for use in a television and a method thereof are to add an alarm function to a television, thereby making it possible to switch channels. CONSTITUTION: A key input unit(40) includes an alarm setup key, an alarm key, an alarm stop key, a program selection key and a program stop key. The key input unit detects a key push to generate a key input signal. A control unit(20) generates a control signal corresponding to the key input signal and controls an alarm program to display an alarm. A memory unit(30) stores the alarm program and control programs. An alarm output unit(10) outputs the alarm corresponding to the control signal. In an alarm display method, it is checked whether or not the alarm key and the program selection key are inputted. If the alarm key and the program selection key are inputted, a program corresponding to the program selection key is executed and an alarm is simultaneously displayed on a screen. If the alarm stop key is inputted, the displaying of the alarm is stopped and only the program is executed. If the program stop key is inputted, the program is stopped.
