摘要 PURPOSE: A high speed circuit for calculating serial error position polynomial is provided which reduces delay time in the calculation of error position polynomial using serially constructed Berlekamp-Massey repetition algorithm, to calculate the error position polynomial at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: An error position polynomial calculating circuit includes the first shift register(201) for storing a correction polynomial corresponding to a half of the number of symbols to be corrected, and the second shift register(203) for storing an error position polynomial corresponding to the half of the number of symbols to be corrected. The circuit further has the third shift register(205) for storing a syndrome polynomial corresponding to the number of symbols to be corrected, a multiplexer(213) for selecting the syndrome symbol of the syndrome polynomial.
