PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric ceramic having a high mechanical strength and excellent in chemical and moisture resistances. SOLUTION: This piezoelectric ceramic is characterized in that a glass phase mainly comprising a network-forming oxide is present in the triple point formed by mutually adjoining crystal grains constituting a piezoelectric ceramic sintered compact in the piezoelectric ceramic containing a lead oxide and the glass phase is substantially absent in grain boundaries of the mutually adjoining crystal grains.
