Hot separation of small thin glass parts from a glass substrate with a tool having upper (3) and lower (5) tools comprises: machining (sic) with the lower tool which has separation devices so that contact between the lower tool and the glass substrate is restricted to the lower separation devices, heating of the lower tool and substrate to a specific temperature, and restriction of contact between the upper tool and substrate to a specific region. An independent claim is included for a device for including upper and lower tools and separation devices and a cooling device for the upper tool.
