The variable configuration bicycle has a side member (11) which may project downward from a telescopic main frame (3,7). A first hinge (D1) is situated near a frame member (12) carrying a pedal sprocket (13). A second hinge (D2) on the end of this frame member holds the rear wheel (2) frame member (10) and there is a locking device (21) fixing the angle between the two frame members. The bicycle frame is adjustable for riding in the prone or upright position. The saddle (8) and a backrest (9) are mounted on the rear portion of the telescopic main frame. The handlebars (6), steering column (5) and front forks (4) holding the front wheel (1) are mounted on the front portion of the telescopic main frame.
