<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus whose gravity center is stable by preventing it from moving to either one of the sides with the movement of an image reading section. <P>SOLUTION: A dotted line F indicating the position of the gravity center of a rotary developing device 50 is in front of the center line E of an image forming section 100. A dotted line H1 indicating the position of the gravity center of an image reading section 200 is behind the center line E of the image forming section 100. Namely, the gravity centers of the heavy rotary developing device 50 and image reading section 200 are separated, so that one is disposed in the front and the other in the back. Since the weight of a digital copying machine 10 is balanced in both a frontward direction and a backward direction, the weight is stably born. Further, the position of the gravity center of the image reading section 200 is moved further backward in the direction of a dotted line H2 by the rotation of the image reading section 200.
