A method and an apparatus for setting remote controller signals in a mobile terminal having a remote controller function are provided to improve user's convenience by removing the necessity of searching a remote controller signal after directly accessing a server. A control part in a mobile terminal judges whether a remote controller setup menu is selected through a key input part(S101). If the remote controller setup menu is selected, the control part converts the mobile terminal into IR(Infrared) signal receiving mode(S102). Then, the control part judges whether an IR remote controller signal is inputted(S103). If an IR remote controller signal is inputted, the control part interprets the received IR remote controller signal and checks whether the same remote controller signal as the received IR remote controller signal exists in a memory(S104). In case the same remote controller signal as the received IR remote controller signal exists, the control part matches the other remote controller signals recorded together with the received IR remote controller signal with keys of the mobile terminals and sets them(S106).
