<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and a method for displaying state information, in which even if the electronic device is rotated, a user can accurately read state information. <P>SOLUTION: This electronic device 100 comprises a system module 110, a control module 120 and a display module 130. The system module includes a state information unit for storing state information of the electronic device. The control module includes a setting unit generating a set value corresponding to a placing state of the electronic device, and a display control unit for reading state information corresponding to the set value from the state information unit. The display module displays state information of the electronic device. The method for displaying state information of the electronic device, enabling the user to accurately read state information even if the electronic device is rotated is provided. When the electronic device according to the present invention is set to a different placing state, the user can adjust the display method of state information of the electronic device.
