PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevention waste toner from spilling when a waste toner box is exchanged as well as to prevent a mistake that an apparatus is operated while forgetting to attach a waste toner box in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: First to fifth shutters 33B, 33Y, 33M, 33C and 33K in a transporting part 32 or a transporting end part in a drum side transporting part 57 are closed by opening a front cover 1a in an image forming apparatus. The waste toner box 30 is pulled out and a belt side stopper 54 or a drum side stopper 62 is made into a locked state. After that, the waste toner box 30 is attached and a lock is released. After releasing the lock, by having a tip part 53 pressed by a stay 1b when the front cover 1a is closed, the shutters 33B, 33Y, 33M, 33C and 33K are made into the a closed state.
