APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING OUTFLOW OF ELECTRIC FURNACE SLAG AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for preventing the outflow of electric furnace slag comprising a weir having the same size as an inlet of molten steel and a weir control apparatus for controlling the descending speed of the weir are provided, which have the advantages of increasing a tapping amount and reducing quicklime and aluminium to be used. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus comprises a weir(2) having the same size as an inlet of molten steel(4) in front of the upper part of an electric furnace tap hole(1) and a weir control apparatus(3) for controlling the descending speed of the weir. The weir control apparatus comprises a programmed logic controller for controlling a driving part and driving speed. This apparatus can prevent the inflow of slag regardless of forming an eddy by shutting off electric furnace slag in advance.
