PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical material consisting of an organic-inorganic composite material excellent in optical performance and mechanical strength and applicable to an optical lens. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the optical material consisting of the organic-inorganic composite material containing a polymerization reaction product produced from polymerizable monomers having unsaturated radicals and metal oxide particles, the polymerization reaction product is produced from the polymerizable monomers having the unsaturated radicals by irradiating a mixture containing at least the polymerizable monomers having the unsaturated radicals and the metal oxide particles with microwaves.
