PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of elevator service by early and safely resuming operation of an elevator, limiting to one part of the whole elevation distance, after performing the controlled operation in earthquake, and thereafter, expanding an operation resumption section early. SOLUTION: Sections wherein diagnostic operation of an elevator is performed after the controlled operation in earthquake are divided into a prior diagnosed section limited to one part of the whole elevation distance of the elevator and a normal diagnosed section limited to a predetermined range except the prior diagnosed section. After executing the control operation in earthquake, diagnostic operation is executed in the only prior diagnosed section, and under a predetermined condition, normal operation of the elevator is resumed, limiting to a predetermined range within the prior diagnosed section. After the normal operation within the prior diagnosed section is resumed, diagnostic operation in the normal diagnosis section is executed, and under a predetermined condition, normal operation of the elevator is resumed, expanding to a predetermined range within the normal diagnosed section.
