PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a ride comfort performance of a vehicle by reducing damping force when an electric current is not carried, in a variable damping force damper using MRF. SOLUTION: An annular inner yoke 26 and an outer yoke 40 are coaxially oppositely arranged with a predetermined clearance in an outer peripheral side part of a piston 16 so that the MRF flows in a void 41 formed between both yokes. A coil 30 is arranged in an annular groove 28 recessed on the outer periphery of the inner yoke, and flow passage resistance to the MRF passing through the void is controlled by generating a magnetic flux of crossing the void 41 by selectively carrying the electric current to the coil. An axial extending part 31 overhanging toward the outer periphery of the coil, is arranged on the outer peripheral part side of the annular groove of the inner yoke. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
