PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member enhanced in abrasion resistance and exfoliation resistance by forming a coated film having both toughness and abrasion resistance on a surface of the sliding body. SOLUTION: The sliding body has a coated film primarily consisting of chromium nitride on a sliding surface. The sliding body has a multilayer structure consisting of three or more layers formed by alternately laminating a densely coated film with a porosity of not less than 0.05 to less than 3% and a porous coated film with a porosity of 3 to 15%. Then, the densely coated film preferably has a Vickers hardness ranging from 1,600HV0.05 to 2,500HV0.05, while the porous coated film preferably has a Vickers hardness ranging from 1,000HV0.05 to 2,000HV0.05.
