PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel speed reducer and a construction machine capable of protecting a part for supporting a speed reduction mechanism against impact from an external part, without maximally increasing weight of a cover. SOLUTION: This travel speed reducer 39 has the speed reduction mechanism 34 used for a hydraulic excavator 1, and the cover 44 covering the axial direction of the speed reduction mechanism 34. The cover 44 has support parts 15 and 16 for supporting a load in the axial direction from the speed reduction mechanism 34.
