The present invention relates to the technical field of input methods. Disclosed are a method and device for input method cursor operation. Per the method for input method cursor operation of the present invention, in an interface of a common candidate word selection mode of an input method, switching to an edit string cursor slide mode or a candidate column cursor slide mode is allowed, and, after entering the edit string cursor slide mode or the candidate column cursor slide mode, switching between the two modes is allowed. In the edit string cursor slide mode, sliding of the position of the cursor in an edit string is allowed by means of a slide operation in an input area, and operations such as editing can be performed on the edit string. In the candidate item cursor slide mode, sliding of the position of the cursor in a candidate item string is allowed by means of a slide operation in the input area. This achieves the beneficial effect in which a user is allowed to control conveniently, on the basis of the slide operation in the input method, the cursor of the input method to enter a candidate column and to move among candidate items without affecting the line of sight of the user, thus facilitating the user in making a selection among the candidate items. |
