An ophthalmic apparatus comprising: an illumination optical system including a light source and configured to illuminate an eye to be examined; an imaging optical system including an image sensor, the image sensor imaging the eye illuminated by the illumination optical system; a plurality of optical member insertion/removal units configured to insert/remove a plurality of optical members in/from at least one of optical paths in the illumination optical system and the imaging optical system; a control unit configured to control the optical member insertion/removal units so as to insert/remove the optical members in/from the at least one optical path; a determination unit configured to determine whether or not insertion/removal of each optical member in/from an optical path has been normally performed, based on an analysis result of an image corresponding to each optical member obtained by the image sensor in synchronism with insertion/removal of each optical member in/from the optical path; and a notification unit configured to notify an abnormality in a case where the determination unit has determined that insertion/removal of at least one of the plurality of optical members in/from the optical path has not been normally performed.
