Disclosed are a display control method, a display module and a dimming control method for the display module. An object of the present invention is to maintain a suitable balance between power saving and deterioration of an image quality through dimming control optimized to a backlight unit of an LCD module. Another object of the present invention is to perform dimming control optimized to a backlight unit at a faster processing speed even for an input image having a high resolution. A display control method according to the present invention includes the steps of: receiving an input image; obtaining a dimming control value by which a value of an objective function is minimized for the purpose of power saving of a light source; a performing the dimming control of the light source by applying the dimming control value; controlling a transmittance of a liquid crystal cell based on the dimming control value; and displaying an input image on a display panel based on the dimming control and transmittance.
