To fold the box end, the tubing box (11) has four end-face surface sections (a, b) which initially extend in the longitudinal direction of the box (11) beyond the end thereof. Two levers (16) which are arranged in the manner of scissors and extend approximately in the longitudinal direction of the tubing box (11), are displaceable in the direction towards the box. Each of these levers (16) carries, at its rear arm (16a), a guide piece (14) engaging with a guide groove (13). The levers (16) are pushed forwards by the front ends (16b) extended by the guide groove (13) towards the box (11) and engage at the two inner surface sections (a) of the box end. In the further course of the advancing movement, a closing motion is imposed by the guide grooves (13) upon the front lever ends (16b), so that they fold the inner surface sections (a) inwards and force them into the box (11), followed by another extending movement so that they force the inner surface sections (a) outwards into contact with the box side walls. The inner surface sections (a), greatly deformed in this way, remain in the interior of the box (11) after the levers (16) have been retracted, and can therefore not impede the subsequent folding of the outer surface sections (b). <IMAGE> |
