Rivet connection for two metal plates - uses additional metal strip of greater thickness on rivet head side

The rivet or screw connection is made between two directly or indirectly adjacent sheet metal plates. The latter are loaded in opposite directions for tension, compression or in shear. The rivet or screw connection ensures that when plates are displaced relative to each other the shearing and tearing out of the fasteners is prevented. At least two rivets (7) or screws are used for connecting a metal strip (3) with one of the plates (1,2). This metal strip has the same strength but greater thickness than one of the plates to be connected. The rivets or screws have a shear strength greater than the whole edge force of the plates (1, 2). The metal strip (3) is connected on the surface of that plate (1) which is adjacent to the head (8) of the rivet or to the bolt head.
