SOLUTION: On the occurrence of a defect in the connection to an optical multiplexer section 22, an optical signal detection section 531 receives an optical signal S22a1, i.e., a reflected light of an optical signal S511, via an optical branch section 521. When no defect is in existence in the connection with the optical multiplexer section 22, the optical signal detection section 531 receives no optical signal S22a1. An optical signal number detection section 23 generates an optical signal number detection signal S23 on the basis of detection signals S531, S532 and an optical amplifier section 24 amplifies an optical signal S22 on the basis of the signal S23.
