<p>The air raid shelter is of prefab. construction, and it may be buried in the ground or sheathed in housed concrete. It may even be incorporated into the structure of a house. The shelter is made of a number of comparatively small easily transported elements such as slabs. Alternatively several small complete room units may be used. These may be joined together, to form the complete shelter and a number of different shelter structures may be built up. The shelter wall, ceiling and floor slabs may consist of sheets of corrugated metal mounted on strengthening frames, and they are designed to fit together at their edges.</p> |
