PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode and its manufacturing method, which can attain electrochemical oxidization of sugar, and a battery which utilizes chemical energy of sugar as electrical energy. SOLUTION: In interface of an electrode 11 arranged at the face of conductive base substance including Pb and an electrolyte, a complex 13 of an ingredient arranged at the electrode 11 with sugar 12 is formed in a state of a hydroxyl group of the sugar 12 facing the electrode 11. With the movement of electrons from the sugar 12 to the electrode 11 and to an outside circuit via the complex 13, a C-C bond of the sugar 12 is split, and oxidized into oxalic acid, formic acid, CO2 or the like. |
