摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To automatically prevent a car from succeedingly starting at once even if a preceding car gets starting, in the case where it is stopped in the forefront at an intersection and a railroad crossing, in a running controller for a vehicle running in the wake of the preceding car as controlling a throttle. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of each detecting signal out of a car speed sensor 10 and a car range sensor 12, an electronic control unit 14 calculates the objective driving force, feeding it to a driving force control means 20, through which succeeding travel in the wake of a preceding car is carried out. When a driver operates a brake pedal and a car speed canes down to zero, the electronic control unit 14 drives a brake hydraulic pressure holding means 22 and keeps a brake operating state on the basis of each signal out of a brake switch pedal 16 and a car speed sensor 10. Only at the time when a car distance with the preceding car is less than the specified value, and the preceding car is started and thereby its relative speed comes to positive, this keeping state is released, but such a case other than this, the brake keeping state is continued till the driver operates an accelerator pedal.</p>
