Single or multi-core electrical cables with an insulation made of crosslinked or not crosslinked polymer material enclosing the conductors (1) has, admixed to the insulation, particles of mica (3) which link the insulating tapes (2) e.g. 0.08mm mica on 0.1mm PE foil. The tapes consist of PE or one of its copolymers, equalling 20% of the used mica material. The tapes are preferably wound not overlapping but abutting. ADVANTAGE - This simplifies the manufacture of fire resisting cable and lowers the cost.
