PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous composition which contains a colorant and a surfactant which fully exhibits its results even when used in a small amount in comparison with a conventional surfactant and can improve the penetration of the composition; a recording liquid, such as an ink, a liquid toner, or a coating material, comprising the composition; and an ink jet recording method using the recording liquid. SOLUTION: This composition contains a colorant and a surfactant which contains a compound derived from procaryotes, such as microorganisms of the genus Bacillus, or a polypeptide compound or its salt. A recording liquid comprising the composition and an ink jet recording method using the liquid are provided. |
