PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensation monitor device, etc., which is applied to an optical communication system having dispersion compensated and can be simplified in constitution and reduced in operation man-hour. SOLUTION: A light signal having dispersion compensated is photoelectrically converted by an optical front end 104, whose output is amplified by an automatic gain control amplifier 105 to a prescribed level. One of its outputs is branched by a power divider 109, and one of the divided parts has its power detected by a power detector 110 and the other has its power detected by a power detector 112 after a high-pass filter 111 extracts only a signal component of high frequency. The outputs of the power detectors 110 and 112 are inputted to a discriminator 113 which discriminates whether or not a dispersion compensation quantity is too large or too small. The discriminator 113 compares the division results of the outputs of the power detectors with the border value of a dispersion tolerance range to obtain the monitor output 114 of the dispersion compensation quantity. |
