POLYACETYLENE-LITHIUM INSERTION COMPOUND, ITS USE IN A STORAGE CELL AND PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF LITHIUM-CONJUGATED POLYMER TYPE INSERTION COMPOUNDS

Polyacetylene-lithium insertion compound, its use in a storage cell and process for the preparation of polymer-lithium insertion compounds. The insertion compound, which has a monoclinic structure, contains at least six CH groups per lithium atom. The polymer-lithium compounds can be obtained by compressing a polymer mixture, such as polyacetylene, and lithium, for example at a pressure of 30 to 250MPa, at ambient temperature. The compound can be used as a negative electrode (5) in a lithium storage cell comprising an oxide, sulfide or oxysulfide positive electrode (9) and a lithium ion conducting electrolyte (8).
